The Market for AI Infrastructure Is Larger Than Most People Think

There is a common assumption in the technology discourse that AI infrastructure is simply about training ever-larger language models and deploying them through APIs. This framing misses the far more interesting development happening at the margins: researchers and practitioners building coordination systems that turn individual AI capabilities into persistent, autonomous workflows.

Consider what this actually means. The difference between a tool you consult and a colleague who monitors, acts, and coordinates is not merely one of degree — it is a difference in kind. A tool requires you to formulate the question. A colleague notices when a question needs asking.

The Hayekian Parallel

The best way to understand these emerging systems is through the lens of distributed coordination theory. Hayek's insight about the price system — that it aggregates dispersed local knowledge into signals no central planner could compute — applies directly to multi-agent architectures.

The curious task of economics is to demonstrate to men how little they really know about what they imagine they can design.

02 — How it works
01
Click

On any web page — article, blog post, Twitter thread, Substack — click the PrintWise icon.

02
Extract

Claude Haiku reads the page content and identifies the actual article. Ads, nav, popups, cookie banners — gone.

03
Read or print

Opens a clean reader view with proper serif typography, generous margins, and print-optimized page breaks.

03 — Details

Why

Printing from the web produces truncated text, embedded ads, broken layouts, and cookie consent dialogs on paper. Browser reader modes help sometimes, but they're rule-based and fail on threads, dynamic content, and non-standard pages. PrintWise uses an LLM to actually comprehend what matters.

Privacy

Your API key is stored locally in Chrome. Page content is sent to the Anthropic API for processing — nowhere else. No analytics, no tracking, no data collection. The extension has no backend.

Cost

Each extraction uses one Claude Haiku call. Typical cost is $0.001–0.003 per page. A hundred articles costs roughly the same as a coffee. Requires an Anthropic API key.

Typography

Output is typeset in Source Serif 4 with Cormorant Garamond display headings. Drop caps, proper orphan/widow control, A4 page margins, and CSS page break hints. Designed to look good enough to frame.
